Death of NASHWAN

It is with much regret that Shadwell Stud has to report that NASHWAN was humanely destroyed last night due to complications following what was expected to be a minor operation on his right hind leg. We are all absolutely shattered by the loss. He was an outstanding racehorse and his feat of winning the 2000 Guineas, Derby, Eclipse and King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes in the same season remains unequalled. He leaves behind a series of top class winners including SWAIN, now a sire in America, WANDESTA, ONE SO WONDERFUL and AQAARID.
