ACT ONE - Gerald Leigh's Bequest to English Breeding

ACT ONE, at the express wish of his late owner, Gerald Leigh, is to be Syndicated to stand in England. ACT ONE will stand at Shadwell's Nunnery Stud at a fee of £10,000 1st October terms and will be syndicated by London Thoroughbred Services, with Eydon Hall Farm retaining an interest and Shadwell purchasing into the horse. As will be widely known, Gerald Leigh held strong views on both mare numbers and the shuttling of stallions. The ACT ONE Syndication Agreement will hence conform to these principles. The stallion will stand in England covering up to a maximum of 100 mares and will not shuttle to the Southern Hemisphere.

ACT ONE winner of five of his six career starts, was unbeaten in three starts as a two year old, including winning the Criterium International (Group One) over one mile on his final start beating LANDSEER and this year he won both the Prix Greffulhe (Group Two) and the Prix Lupin (Group One) with consummate ease before finishing a close second to SULIMANI in the Prix du Jockey Club (Group One) the pair finishing 5 lengths clear of the field. Sadly, ACT ONE suffered a hairline fracture to a hind canon, just prior to his intended meeting with HIGH CHAPARRAL in the Irish Derby. ACT ONE is an impressive looking grey colt by IN THE WINGS out of the Stakes placed SUMMER SONNET, from the family of KORVEYA, BOSRA SHAM, HECTOR PROTECTOR, etc., and should prove a great asset to the English breeding industry and a living testament to Gerald Leigh's highly successful breeding operation which continues at Eydon Hall Farm.
