The MUJAHID bandwagon gathered ever more momentum over the first three days of the October part 1 sales. His first lot through the ring, lot 70, a bay colt out of SKY RED, consigned by Goldford Stud attracted bids of up to 30,000gns before being retained by the vendor. His next yearling on the first day however did find a new owner when lot 242 from Whatton Manor Stud was purchased by Highflyer Bloodstock for 40,000gns It is expected the colt will go into training with Henry Candy.
Around half way through day three Stephen Hillen paid 50,000gns for another bay colt, this time from Bellewstown Stud in Ireland. The real hightlight came however when lot 749, a striking individual out of the two time winning mare ACTRESS, was knocked down to Angus Gold, of Shadwell Estates, for no less than 110,000gns. This represents a remarkable 22 times his nomination fee.
ERHAAB's three lots through the ring so far have been very well received. The first, lot 778, consigned by Kirtlington Stud, was out of the GREEN DESERT mare INTISAB and was purchased for 50,000gns by Clive Cox. Bishop Wilton Stud bred and consigned lot 959, a strong half sister to listed winner MAYCOCKS BAY, and she was bought by Hugo Lascelles for 40,000gns. He commented "I bought the half sister, MAYCOCKS BAY, and this is a very similar type, she's athletic and looks like she should be early, I'm very pleased to have got her."
Bloomsbury Stud's bay colt, lot 986, attracted a very respectable 31,000gns and will join Patrick Haslam. Shadwell are delighted by the way the these first UK yearlings have sold, and very much look forward to October Part 2 where five yearlings sell. All are quality individuals but particular highlight's are Lodge Farm Stud's colt out of BASSMAAT and Jamie Railton's colt out of KHAWATER.
