Mujahid fares well in a stong St Leger Sale

Shadwell's Beech House Stud-based MUJAHID fared best of the first crop sires at the Doncaster St Leger Sale yesterday with two out of his three yearlings fetching in excess of 60,000gns.

Henry Candy, who has achieved great success with the likes of AIRWAVE and KYLLACHY from this sale, paid 60,000gns for Lot 321, a cracking colt from the first crop of MUJAHID consigned by Manor Farm Stud. The colt, out of SOMETHING BLUE, is a half-brother to two winners, both trained by Richard Whitaker. The second dam, BLUEIT, a winning daughter of BOLD LAD, is also the grandam of Gr.3 winner BISHOPS COURT and Listed winner ASTONISHED.

A delighted Candy said: "He is a real good looking horse, definitely my favourite on the night."

Will Edmeades was the buyer of a lovely, athletic MUJAHID filly, this time for 64,000gns. Consigned as Lot 382, from New England Stud, the filly is a half-sister to six winners, most notably the Listed winner STEELANINCH.
