STORMING HOME to stand at Shadwell

Shadwell are pleased to announce that they will be welcoming the Gainsborough Stud owned stallion STORMING HOME to The Nunnery Stud in 2004. The five-year-old son of MACHIAVELLIAN began his racing career with Barry Hills and demonstrated Group class form at two, three and four years, winning the Gr.2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2001. His European campaign culminated with victory in last year's Gr.1 Champion Stakes, where he defeated the Gr.1 winners MOON BALLAD and NOVERRE.

Transferred to Neil Drysdale's American barn for the 2003 season, he quickly established himself as the leading turf horse in North America with victory on his Stateside debut in the valuable Jim Murray Handicap at Hollywood Park, before reverting to ten furlongs on the same track for an impressive victory in the Gr.1 Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap. He was controversially disqualified and placed fourth on his latest start in the Gr.1 Arlington Million, where he was first past the post, half a length ahead of 2002 Prix du Jockey-Club hero SULAMANI. His end of season target is the Gr.1 Breeders' Cup Turf at Santa Anita on 25th October.

Storming Home's dam, the SHAREEF DANCER mare TRY TO CATCH ME was a winner at three years in France and is herself a half-sister to NOTE MUSICALE (Sadler's Wells), the dam of Gainsborough-bred MUSICAL CHIMES (In Excess), winner of this year's Poule d'Essai des Pouliches. His grandam, IT'S IN THE AIR (Mr Prospector) was Champion Two-Year-Old Filly in North America in 1978 and the family also includes the Irish Derby heroine BALANCHINE.

Storming Home will join fellow Gainsborough Stud owned stallion, GREEN DESERT, at Shadwell Stud. His fee will be announced at a later date, and full details will appear in the stallion pages in the next few weeks.
