The first major yearling sale of the season in the UK takes place this week at Doncaster. The St Ledger Sale (so named because the classic takes place on the Saturday at the racecourse), will see a strong representation for the Shadwell first season sire MUJAHID. No less than ten of his yearlings will pass through the ring:
| Lot | Dam | Consignor | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 76 | BF | Cointosser | Catridge Farm Stud | |
| 99 | BC | Mabrookah | Cobhall Court Stud | |
| 104 | BC | Agony Aunt | Lavington Stud | |
| 250 | BR | C | Lammastride | Mr D Taylor |
| 293 | BC | Stolen Melody | Catridge Farm Stud | |
| 321 | BC | Something Blue | Manor Farm Stud (Rutland) | |
| 358 | BC | Gold Linnet | Newtown Stud, Ireland | |
| 382 | BF | Mrs Gray | New England Stud | |
| 418 | BC | Stygian | Collin Stud | |
| 509 | BF | Future Options | Parsonage Farm Stud |
They are a strong, well-grown crop of quality individuals and it's hoped they'll surpass the achievements of his foals last year (who made up to nine times their nomination fee). MUJAHID himself was bred to be sharp and early, by DANZIG out of a stakes winning STORM CAT mare, and proved to be so when winning twice in the July of his two-year-old year. He then went on to take the Dewhurst and was crowned Champion two-year-old in Europe. His progeny certainly look as though they'll have the ability to follow suit.
