Sheikh Hamdan celebrates Bumper Day

Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's racing and bloodstock celebrated a bumper day at home and abroad on Saturday.

The day began in Australia where his young sire MUJAHID was represented by his first Group winner when his highly- regarded two-year-old filly PARIS PETARD won the Gr.3 West Australian Sires' Produce Stakes over 7 furlongs at Ascot.

This was followed at Newbury by his Shadwell Farm-based SWAIN, whose Nasheej, owned by Malih L Basti and a $44,000 Keeneland January graduate, won the Gr.3 Fred Darling Stakes for trainer Richard Hannon and is still 1000 Guineas bound.

In Ireland, Moon Unit by his Derrinstown-based Champion INTIKHAB, won the Listed Woodland Stakes, her fourth Listed victory to go with her Gr.3 Greenlands Stakes of last year.

His racing stock also had a big say in the day's events at Newbury, which he was able to witness in person.
