Kutub was bred by Stackallan and Airlie Stud and realised 220,000 Gns as a yearling at the Tattersalls Houghton Sales in Newmarket when purchased by Shadwell Estates. Kutub’s dam Minnie Habit is a three parts sister to the very speedy Group winning 2-y-o Bermuda Classic, who is dam of Shake The Yoke (Coronation S, Gr1, Royal Ascot), Tropical (Curragh S, Gr3) and Gr1 placed Kournakova. Minnie Habit is also the dam of On The Nile (Eyrefield Stakes at 2) and In The Limelight (Garnet Stakes).
Richard Lancaster, Director of Shadwell Estates stated that Kutub’s 1st crop are now 3 year olds of 2007 and he has sired some smart winners incl Tres Fine, who was an impressive Deauville winner.
“We have had numerous approaches to purchase Kutub from Irish stallion farms but we have decided to stand him with Winston in view of the excellent job that he has done with Mutharram. Kutub’s yearlings sold well at Deauville last season and realised up to 48,000 Euros. In The Wings has sired the leading hurdlers Landing Light, Inglis Drever, Overstrand and Westender and his son Winged Love has also done well at stud with his National Hunt performers. Given the excellent pool of National Hunt mares and breeders in Ireland we feel that Kutub will attract good support ”
