The Secret's Out - SAKHEE'S SECRET wins the July Cup (Gr1)

SAKHEE's SECRET continued his amazing rise up the ranks when making the transition from Listed to Group 1 company with a quality victory in the Gr.1 July Cup, Europe's most valuable sprint, at Newmarket on Friday.

SAKHEE'S SECRET was held up towards the stands' side as South African Drayton cut out the pace, but, after being checked with two furlongs to run, SAKHEE'S SECRET produced a powerful burst to strike the front inside the final furlong to beat Dutch Art. Jockey Steve Drowne said, " He is up there with the best - if (he is) not the best - I have ridden and he will only get better".

SAKHEE'S SECRET was homebred by owner/breeder Miss Bridget Swire and is the tenth product of her smart US bred mare Palace Street, from a speedy family that already includes recent July Cup winner Stravinsky.

Trainer Hughie Morrison has reported that the horse has come out of the race in good order though the Nunthorpe is unlikely to be on the colt's agenda.
"We'll see how he is in the next few weeks but Haydock may fit in better - going there gives us a bit longer and we also know how good he is over six furlongs. After Haydock, I'd imagine we'd end our season at Longchamp, as I have no real desire to go to the Breeders' Cup."

Shadwell would like to offer their congratulations to all connections.
