An impressive week for the Shadwell stallions

The last seven days have been an exciting week for the Shadwell stallions from the Deauville sales ring to the Newmarket racetrack.

At the Deauville Sales last weekend a HAAFHD yearling topped the sale for the product of a first season sire in Lot 116.  The striking colt consigned by Ballylinch Stud is out of Listed winner DESERT MAGIC and generated a lot of interest in the sales ring before being knocked down to Demi O’Byrne for Eu400,000.

The Deauville racetrack was the next venue for Shadwell sires’ successes with MUHTATHIR’s SATWA QUEEN winning her third Group 2 in the Prix Jean Romanet and MUJAHID’s Listed winning daughter, TASHELKA taking the Group 3 Prix de la Nonette on Sunday.

Back on home soil, NAYEF has also had an encouraging week, with a 1st and a 3rd on Monday at Leicester and again at Newmarket today.  Cheveley Park Stud’s SPACIOUS won the EBF Maiden Stakes at Leicester by 4 lengths for her trainer James Fanshawe on her first time out.  ALFATHAA, also by NAYEF and running for the first time, ran in the same race and came a close 3rd for Sheikh Hamdan.  Today at Newmarket KOTSI had a convincing victory first time out in the EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes, with BASQUE BEAUTY, also first time out, coming 3rd.

And finally, the ACT ONE filly PERFECT ACT made a convincing start to her career today with a debut win at Newbury in the Designer Way Vacation Club Median Auction Maiden Stakes, closely followed by SAKHEE’s son DOCTOR ROBERT in 2nd.

Shadwell’s Stud Director Richard Lancaster commented, “ It is always exciting when young sires for whom we have high expectations produce such promising individuals in the ring or on the course.  This week has given us great optimism for the future.  Long may it continue!”
