Muhaarar: the champion sprinter is well represented at Arqana August Yearling Sale

EXPECT fireworks in France this August when six of Muhaarar’s first yearlings come under the hammer at Arqana.

Two-thirds of the lots will be offered by Ecurie des Monceaux, the boutique operation managed by Henri Bozo. They are headed by a regally bred colt out of the stud’s star mare Prudenzia (lot 16), a daughter of Dansili whose six yearlings to have gone under the hammer have made a remarkable €6.15 million. They include Irish Oaks heroine Chicquita, who was subsequently sold for €6 million at Goffs, and this year’s runaway Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes scorer Magic Wand.

Monceaux also offer a Muhaarar filly (lot 9) out of Group 3 winner Pacifique – a half-sister to Prudenzia – as well as a half-brother (lot 23) to dual Group 2 winner Free Port Lux out of Grade 1 Beverly D Stakes winner Royal Highness and a colt (lot 70) out of Princess Margaret Stakes scorer African Skies, who is also the dam of Listed-winning two-year-old Calypso Beat.

Haras du Cadran consigns a filly (lot 83) out of Avenue Gabriel, who was a talented performer in Ireland where she landed a pair of Listed races at a mile before being subsequently snapped up by her new connections for 375,000gns at Tattersalls in 2016.

The sextet is completed by a half-sister to US Grade 3 winner More Than Love (lot 132). The filly, who was knocked down to James Hanly as a foal for 165,000gns, is offered by Camas Park and Glenvale Studs.
