Mukhadram: Group 1 Coral-Eclipse winner is off the mark at stud

Mukhadram is off the mark at stud courtesy of Dame Gladys who stuck in a 5f Fillies’ Novice Median Auction Stakes at Nottingham on Friday.

Trained by Kevin Ryan, the filly was positioned off the pace before digging in deep - a trait often displayed by Mukhadram - to repel The Last Party.

Dame Gladys, who was second on debut at Ripon last month, was bred by and carries the colours of late owner-breeder Guy Reed. She is out of the 12-year-old Dr Fong mare Nurse Gladys, an unraced half-sister to three winners who were all effective at middle distances.

Nurse Gladys has produced two other winners – Cyril, a dual winner at up to 1m2½f for Ryan, and Qatar 6f scorer Thorndyke.

Mukhadram, who carried the colours of Sheikh Hamdan to Group 1 victory in the 2014 Coral-Eclipse, has 87 first crop two-year-olds to run for him this year.

First yearlings by the nine-year-old son of Shamardal made up to £200,000 in 2017 and his first juveniles were well received at the breeze-up sales this year.
