Shadwell already sponsor the apprentice series at Salisbury

The Dick Poole Stakes at Salisbury, a Group 3 event over six furlongs for two-year-old fillies, is to be sponsored by Shadwell this year.

Prize-money for the race, run on September 6, totals £46,500 – up £4,000 on last year.

Last year's renewal was won by the Richard Hannon-trained Anna Nerium, who has gone on to win the European Free Handicap and finish second in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes this year.

Gail Brown, a director at Salisbury, said: “We are delighted and very grateful that Sheikh Hamdan has generously agreed to sponsor the Dick Poole.

“It is such a smashing race, and Shadwell’s support will do much to emphasise this, and help us to continue to raise its profile”.

Shadwell stud director Richard Lancaster added: “Shadwell already sponsors the apprentice series at Salisbury, which has been a huge success, so we’re delighted to be associated with this year’s Dick Poole Stakes.

“It has been won by several high-class fillies, none more so than last year’s winner Anna Nerium. It is also a race Sheikh Hamdan has had success in with the likes of Tashawak and Nidhaal, and more recently Sajwah.”
