Lot 319, a Medaglia D'oro filly out of SHUMOOS (in foal to MUHAARAR) was knocked down for 600,000 guineas, consigned by Aislabie Stud.

The three-day Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 concluded as the highest-grossing European sale ever; of the stellar group of yearlings, 10 were out of mares now in foal to Shadwell Stud’s MUHAARAR. These yearlings sold for a total of 2.4 million guineas. Headlining this group was a Medaglia D’oro filly out of SHUMOOS (Distorted Humor) who sold for 600,000 guineas to Al Shira’aa farms. SHUMOOS, a Gr.3 winner and 2nd in the Queen Mary Stakes (Gr.2) at Ascot, is in foal to 2015 Champion European Sprinter MUHAARAR and also has a 2016 colt by Dubawi.

A son of Invincible Spirit out of black-type winner BEACH BUNNY (dam of Listed winner BEACH BELLE and two times Listed winner NAADIRR) was knocked down for an impressive 525,000 guineas to John Ferguson. BEACH BUNNY (High Chaparral), a Listed winner who was narrowly beaten by Dar Re Mi in the Gr.1 Pretty Polly Stakes is also now in foal to four time Gr.1 sprinter MUHAARAR.

One of the first big prices of the sale was a Dansili colt out of multiple Gr.1 winner IZZI TOP (GB) from Meon Valley Stud which sold for 325,000 guineas. IZZI TOP (Pivotal) is a daughter of Prix de l’Opera (Gr.1) winner ZEE ZEE TOP and a half-sister to the joint topper of the sale; a Dubawi colt who lit up Tattersalls when purchased by Shadwell Estate Company Ltd for 2.6 million guineas. IZZI TOP won a total of 6 races throughout her career and also ran third in the Gr.1 Epsom Oaks. To date, she is the best foal out of Group 1 heroine ZEE ZEE TOP, although she has been challenged by her 4-y-o half-sister JAZZI TOP, winner of the Group 2 Prix de la Nonette at Deauville in 2015.

Other yearlings out of mares in foal to new sire MUHAARAR sold for 275,000 guineas (Dawn Approach x Anna’s Rock) and 130,000 guineas (Kodiac x Solola and Dutch Art x Rose Blossom). Champion sprinter MUHAARAR has attracted an outstanding group of high profile mares from leading breeders in his first season at stud and his first crop of foals in 2017 are sure to be very exciting.
